Food, catering, agricultural and livestock industries sector is considered one of the most important Jordanian industrial sectors that has a link and impact on the daily life of the Jordanian citizen.
This sector has a variety of products offered in the local markets, and its products are always linked to the health and safety of the consumer. Moreover, food products are the main source of building and energy for humans, as they contain the necessary and essential nutrients such as proteins, fats, sugars, starches, vitamins, and minerals.
Therefore, this sector is of high importance due to its forward and backward linkages with many other economic and productive sectors, especially the agricultural sector in its plant and animal components, which is the main source of raw materials for the food, catering, agricultural and livestock industries sector.
According to the decision of the Cabinet that adopted the industrial sectors and identified the sub-sectors, the food, catering, agricultural and livestock industries sector includes the following: agricultural and horticultural products, live animals, animal products, red and white meat and their products, vegetables and fruits and their products, fruit and vegetable juices, vegetable oils and animal and vegetable fats and tahini, dairy products, flour mills products, animal feed, flour and flour products, cocoa powder and sweets, coffee, tea, spices, seasonings, and table salt, baby food and soups, vinegar and sauces, yeast, beverages, tobacco and its products, food products, and any other similar industries within this sector.
