Therapeutic Industries and Medical Supplies Sector is one of the largest industrial sectors in Jordan and one of the main pillars of the national economy. It contributes significantly to the gross domestic product (GDP) and total national exports, and is a key player in the industrial sector as a whole. The Jordanian pharmaceutical industry is a leader in the region and a success story in its own right, having achieved many accomplishments and developments.

This sector is one of the pioneering and historical sectors in Jordan, with its production activities starting in the early 1960s. It has continued to develop and grow, and today Jordan is a competitive regional center for the manufacture and sale of therapeutic products and medical supplies. This is due to the high quality of its products and their compliance with the best international standards and specifications. In addition, the Jordanian pharmaceutical industry has significant production capacity and a local market share, given its links to a number of government agencies, healthcare sectors, and consumers.

According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, which adopted the industrial sectors and defined the sub-sectors, the following sub-sectors fall under the Jordanian pharmaceutical and medical supplies industries sector: medical and therapeutic materials, medicines, natural medical materials and preparations, medical and therapeutic disinfectants, laboratory reagents, equipment, and medical supplies, optical and hearing devices, dental equipment and supplies, medical consumables, and any similar industries within this sector
