Construction industry is one of the most prominent strategic economic sectors contributing to and shaping the national economy. The sector is characterized by its diverse expertise and its interdependence with a number of other sectors related to the construction and building sector in the Kingdom, such as the hotel and restaurant sector, the housing sector, and other sectors. This makes it more sensitive to changes in economic activities, demographic and social factors.
This sector is also considered to be a labor-intensive sector, as it has specialized technical cadres of engineers, technicians, and workers. It also contributes to supporting national exports due to the high quality and distinguished contributions of these industries, as it is classified as one of the largest economic activities that create added value due to its reliance on local production inputs and labor.
According to the decision of the esteemed Council of Ministers, which adopted the industrial sectors and defined the sub-sectors, the construction industries sector includes the following sub-sectors:building stones, aggregates and sand products, construction insulation materials, sanitary ware and accessories, tiles, glass panels, thermal construction products, cement products for construction purposes, reinforcement steel and metal structures, decoration and construction works, any other similar industries within this sector.
