Energy Unit

The establishment of the Energy Unit in JCI came during 2015 as a response by the Chamber's Board of Directors to the challenges facing the industrial sector in the field of energy in recent years as a result of the high energy prices due to the great importance it constitutes in the industrial sector.

The unit aims to assist industrial organizations and enable them to exercise the principles of energy management and environmental sustainability through their representation, defense of their interests, providing them with the required knowledge and design programs that enable them to achieve sustainable development.

Unit's main tasks:

1. Garnering support: Through defining policies related to water, energy, and environmental issues that affect the competitiveness and growth of the industrial sector as well as communicating with those concerned with developing or changing such policies in addition to establishing a continuous dialogue between the industrial sector and decision makers.

2. Development and support: Through preparing executive plans to support energy and environmental strategies, designing and managing programs and initiatives that support the industrial sector in addition to monitoring their implementation and helping to provide financing for various programs while continuing to provide technical support to the participating factories.

3. Knowledge management: Through collecting and analyzing information related to the sectors of the economy including information on programs and initiatives from various institutions in addition to the related statistical data and issuing publications in this regards as well as implementing and developing technical studies related to energy and environmental applications to support decision-makers with practical and realistic analysis and numbers.

The most prominent current services and programs:

1.  A program to support the implementation of energy efficiency technologies in SMEs in partnership with the Promotion of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

2.  Energy Efficiency Networks Project with support from the German Agency for International Cooperation.

3.  Environment-friendly Technology Transfer Project (SWITHCMED) with support from the European Union and cooperation with the Royal Scientific Society.

4.  A project to raise the efficiency of resources in the textile and garment industries sector in cooperation with the International Trade Center.

5.  Renewable energy technical support project in corporation with the German Agency for International Cooperation.

6.  Implementing a number of specialized training programs in cooperation with a number of specialized agencies.

7.  Carrying out a number of technical studies especially regarding energy prices and costs.

8.  Implementing a study of the energy-related job skills gap between the needs of the industrial sector and the providers of training and vocational and applied education services.

9.  Provide technical support and free consultation to a large number of factories regarding energy applications in factories.
